DESCRIPTION: We have been retained by a prestigious healthcare organization, which provides a continuum of care in the community, to locate an experienced Purchasing Manager. Reporting to the Director of Logistics, the Manager will be responsible for overall supervision of the Purchasing Department and setting goals for it, based on inventory and department needs.
Specific duties include:
Monitor available supplies, materials and products in order to ensure departments and nursing floors have adequate supplies
Conduct daily inventory analysis
Develop and implement inventory control procedures
Coordinate and manage weekly and monthly physical cycle counts
Evaluate and choose vendors based on product availability and terms of sale; negotiate contracts, and review product quality
Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment
Supervise purchasing staff and oversee their training
Keep accurate records of goods ordered and received
Budget and track inventory
Review all purchase order requests and make sure they are compliant with financial policies and procedures
Maintain purchasing and contract management policies, and procedures
Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products or substitute materials
Prepare bid awards to be submitted to Director for approval
Coordinate activities of personnel engaged in buying, selling, and distributing materials, equipment, machinery, and supplies
Maintain daily records of shipments to see what products need to be replenished

EXPERIENCE: Our client seeks a seasoned Purchasing Manager with a minimum of four years purchasing management experience in a healthcare environment. He/she must possess a bachelor's degree, have a high level of supply chain knowledge, and must know purchasing software.
The successful candidate must have a track record of developing effective inventory management policies. He/she must have excellent customer service skills, good negotiation abilities, be service oriented, possess good judgment, critical thinking, and good time management skills, and be computer literate, including advanced Excel.
