DESCRIPTION: We have been retained by the Department of Ob/Gyn in a prestigious metro New York academic medical center to locate a Manager of Coding whose prime responsibility will be to assist the department with developing efficient processes around charge capture and revenue cycle management in order to enhance revenue and reduce costs. This person will function as subject matter expert and lead educator for the department, advising the Chair and Administrator, and all physician and administrative practice leaders in all aspects of correct documentation and coding. Specific responsibilities include: ? Direct the coding team to accurately and timely completion of compliant abstraction and coding of surgical and delivery procedures in accordance with national regulations and organizational policies and procedures ? Design, direct and conduct the education and training program for all clinicians and billing department staff on proper documentation and coding ? Conduct periodic audits and give feedback to all physicians ? Develop benchmarks to measure performance and share these trends with executive management and business office management ? Interview, hire, discipline, evaluate and terminate, when necessary, subordinate staff ? Directly supervise three coding specialists and educate staff on how to appropriately code and identify opportunities to enhance revenue ? Design and manage workflow for coders to conduct 100% abstract of surgical and labor/delivery procedures across the entire department ? Work with billing team to resolve and communicate accounts receivable and payer issues ? Act as lead on clinical workflow issues across department and in liaison with central professional services ? Conduct audits and give feedback to all physicians ? Oversee and delegate activities, identify new service lines and billing requirements, and hire staff to meet new business demands ? Develop performance improvement plans for staff not performing at industry or organizational best business standards and expectations ? Oversee and direct reports production and analysis for area ? Monitor work queue trends to identify negative outcomes or significant impacts on receivables ? Participate in meetings and provide insight on revenue cycle policies and workflows ? Review and modify existing policies and procedures to ensure they are consistent with payer policies and organizational expectations ? Perform diagnostic and procedural coding of all service diagnoses and conditions, working from the appropriate documentation in the patient's health record Our client offers a most attractive salary and benefits package.

EXPERIENCE: In addition to a bachelor's degree, our client seeks a candidate with either CCS-P, or CPC certification coupled with at least three years' experience working with ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding in a multi-specialty physician or outpatient facility; Ob-Gyn coding experience is preferred. In addition, he/she must possess knowledge of documentation requirements, National Correct Coding Initiative edits, LCD and physician/outpatient hospital billing requirements including reimbursement methodologies. The successful candidate should have prior auditing, training, revenue cycle management, third party billing, charge capture and practice management experience. He or she must have a high level of Microsoft Office software knowledge and Epic software is strongly preferred. This position requires some travel to multiple sites to conduct trainings.
